  WT's expert on blood!

  the january 8, 2000 awake magazine published an article "the growing demand for bloodless medicine and surgery".

  this article has been quoted extensively by jws as support for their "scientific" justification for refusing blood products.. a quote from that article that is familiar to most jws and exjws is this one:.

  “all those dealing with blood and caring for surgical patients have to consider bloodless surgery.”—dr.

  Judge acts to limit Watchtower's influence on child.

  a judge in the uk has ordered strict limits on a jw father's ability to let the watchtower indoctrinate his child.

  Disfellowshipped for being complicit in someone else's sin - really?!

  a close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?

  because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.

  ) when the friend had an abortion.

  Sure it could happen. They have categories of sin they can drop a lot of things into, i.e. "loose conduct". She could probably deflect the action by "repenting" or simply stating she disapproved of the action and was there to try and discourage the abortion right up to the last minute.

  further a new blood saving system, namely some tubes or pipes are propagated which would save blood in the process.

  these pipes are smaller and only need 1/2 of human blood for the cell saver process.

  So perhaps you reduce the need for transfusions by 20%. That is a positive outcome, but bear in mind the JW who elects to follow Watchtowers irrational policy is forced to cut down the safety net of lifesaving blood transfusion when these methods fail or are inadequate. This sort of thing is mostly a distraction. A sleight of hand to change focus from where it should be, and that is on all of the situations where there are no alternatives to allogenic transfusion. Watchtower prefers to talk about "bloodless surgery" which is mostly limited to healthy JWs undergoing elective, planned surgery. Why? Because they have no substantive response to the very real and serious consequences of rejecting a medically necessary transfusion of red cells or platelets.

  A drastic medical view

  when mom and dad and i adopted watchtower teachings during the mid 50's, the most influential couple we knew were special pioneers by the names of raymond and doris bridgman.

  they were truly fine people in many senses, a bit younger than my folks, and very charismatic.

  the place was new bedford, massachusetts, u.s.a.. it wasn't long before you realized that the bridgmans ate differently than the rest of us.

  My maternal grandmother was also a product of the 1930's Watchtower Society. She maintained many of these strange ideas, and passed them down to my mother. Multi-phobic is how I would describe it, with a deep distrust of medical doctors, vaccines, prescription medicines, fear of germs, contamination, etc. My guess would be that the Golden Age magazine, under the editorial direction of C.J. Woodworth, is the source of almost all of this dysfunction.

  A JW explains Blood Fractions

  i was looking around from some information on the wt's stance concerning the use of stem cells, and i came across this article on a defending jehovah's witnesses blog.. rather than informing the reader all that much about stem cells, the author diverts the conversation into a discussion of "blood fractions" (*note: the term "blood fractions" appears to be another one of those wt bloodspeak terms coined by the wt.

  "blood components" or "blood products" are the terms used more frequently by the medical world.

  "fractions" implies tiny amounts).

  Definitely check out the larger resort properties. The scale alone is staggering. Save a little time for people watching on the strip - very entertaining. Gambling eh, can do that in lots of placed now, so not a big deal. If you like Poker, check out the card room at the Bellagio, and the Venetian.The big draw for my wife and I is the world class entertainment. Check out who is in town during your visit. If you like comedy, there is plenty of that, as well as magic. We laughed so hard at Zumanity (NYNY) we cried. Same thing at Absinthe (Caesars).
